Halfway there - A look at the first half of Fantasy Premier League

Hi again!

And again sorry for the lack of posts, I sadly haven't been able to write this blog for the last few months, but hopefully I'm back for good this time.

But as the title says, it's time to take a look at the first half of the ongoing fantasy premier league season. Who have been player with most flare and who do you want to have on your team as the second half of the season unravels.

TOPS:

There isn't too much to argue when looking for the top goalkeeper of the first half. It's of course Manchester City's Joe Hart. Hart has collected an astonishing 103 points, which is a great number for a goalkeeper. At the time of the writing Hart tied as the 7th highest pointscorer in the whole league. A definite hot tip for fantasy premier league for the remaining of the season.

When it comes to defender's though, choosing a player isn't all that easy. There hasn't been any player who has outperformed others this season. As this is the case I choose Stoke City's Robert Huth as the top defender of the first 50% of the FPL season. Other hot tips for fantasy premier league defenders include ManU's Evra and Vidic.

Midfieldels have usually been the players who dominate fantasy premier league pointswise, but that doesn't appear to be the case this season. And with the big players as Lampard and Fabregas having been injured for the majority of the time, the top scoring midfielders haven't been able the make such an impression. Even though not leading the pack, I choose Tottenhams Rafael Van der Vaart as the top midfielder.

Perhaps the biggest surprises of the season have been seen in the forwards-category. Players like Elmander, Carroll and Davies have kept the top spot for many gameweeks even though none of those players has pricetag over 7M. The last few gameweeks have put Tevez and Drogba again in the top, but the top striker of the first half must be Bolton's Johan Elmander.

Hottest Barclays Premier League Fantasy soccer Tips gameweek 3

Two gameweeks have passed in the Fantasy Premier League and now we know a little bit more about the strenghts and weaknesses of all teams and players.

Last weeks tips were a great success as Arsenal beat Blackpool 6-0 and Chelsea Wigan with the same numbers. Arsenal's Walcott scored a hattrick and collected amazing 21 points, not bad for a player with a pricetag of £7.1M, tailing him were Diaby and Arshavin and Chamakh with one goal and one assist. From Chelsea, Anelka and Kalou had a two goal night and Drogba continued his awesome form with three assists.

Birmingham goalkeeper Foster showed his ability once again, with 9 points and a saved penaltykick. Out of my first tips, Tottenham's Bale also scored twice, and I really regret having to leave him out of my team when I transferred in Drogba. Also my first tip Tevez scored twice against Liverpoll and proved himself as a player to have in your Fantasy soccer team.

Newcastle made a bit of a surprise with a 4-0 win over Aston Villa, and Andrew Carroll scored the second hattrick of the gameweek. While this was a great score for Castle, I doubt they'll be able to carry on in the same level, atleast not while they become visitors.

So what have we learned this far. The big teams are truly big, and Wigan, with a goal difference of -10, is really in a downfall.

Gameweek 3 in Barclay's Fantasy Premier League offers another batch of great matches, and it's time to see which players you want to have in your team when the whistle blows.

Again very interesting match fantasy soccer wise is Chelsea against Stoke. The Blues have shown they have more than enough score goaling abilities and you can't really go wrong when you buy one of them in your team. Drogba, Malouda, Lampard, Anelka and Kalou are all very good point scorers. Stoke hasn't shown a whole lot yet and we might witness yet another goalfest in this game.

Manchestes United takes on West Ham in their home turf, and even though they have struggled to get their engine going, I think this match will show their true abilities. Berbatov played a very good game against Fulham, and might be a player to purchase this gameweek. Also Scholes who has one goals and two assits under his belt after two matches is starting to look like a real bargain with a price f £6.2M.

And last but probably not least Fantasy Premier League tips for this gameweek are Tottenham defender Assou-Ekotto and Arsenal's Sagna, priced £5.6M and £6.0M. Tottenham goes against Wigan, and a clean sheet is very close. Sagna on the other hand showed his great abilities as a gamemaker, and is bound collect many assists this season.

Fantasy Premier League Tips Gameweek 2

What a rush! It's always feels great when the English Premier League starts. And that's all because of Fantasy Premier League.

As it always happens, last minute decisions were made after I found out that Drogba indeed was going to play the first match against WB. I'm just sorry I didn't have the time to write that info here on FPLBlog.

Out of my choices, Samba did very good, Foster played an ok game, and Drogba was tremendous. All the rest, well let's just say they better get their act together if they want to play for my Fantasy premier league team for long.

So, it's time for the tips for gameweek 2. Chelsea heads off to play against Wigan and it seems that Drogba, Malouda and Lampard are very good players to have in your team. If you can afford them, everyone of those players is worth a transfer. (not all of course, because extra transfers cost you points, but you could choose any of them :)

Gameweek 2 also sees Arsenal rivaling Blackpool, a team that surprised everyone with an ashtonishing win over Wigan. Unfortunately they will be put back in their place when Arsenal takes a go at them.

Talking about Arsenal, you might want to keep yoor eyes on Chamakh. He played the whole game and didn't play all that bad. Of course when Van Persie returns, it might be harder for him to fit the starting formation. Nice start still.

Aston Villa takes on Newcastle and Villa's players are bound to make great points also this gameweek. Youngling Marc Albrighton played an amazing match against West Ham scoring 9 points, and with a pricetag of £4.5M, not a bad bargain we have there.

League table starts to seem familiar - The Soccer Giants Awake

Top 5 teams in the English Premier League Table: Chelsea, ManU, Liverpool, Man City, Aston Villa. Sounds familiar right? It seems the few surprises that we got in the start of the season, were just that, surprises.

This weeks most impressing win was took by Arsenal, after 2 weaker games, team resumed to their level and took 4-0 over Wigan. Vermaelen scored 2 goals and collected amazing 19 points. Also Aston Villa performed as planned and took 2-0 win over Portsmouth, who still stands at 0 points. Gabriel Agbonlahor continued his goal streak, and has scored in 3 previous matches.

The two most awaitened matches both went to the home teams as ManU took a great victory over their arch rival City. The winning goal was scored by Michael Owen over 5 times into stoppage time. Ryan Giggs took home 3 assists and 14 points. Chelsea took convincing 3-0 win over Tottenham, who still seem to be unable to compete with the "big boys". Didier Drogba scored one and assisted one to collect 12 points.

The player of the gameweek in fantasy premier league this week was Thomas Vermaelen, 2 goals and clean sheet, what more can you ask for from a defender.

Goal, goals, goals - Gameweek 5 review

Gameweek 5 offered great matches and many, many goals. So no lessons for goalkeeping or defending but a huge frenzy for scorers from defenders, midfielders and forwards. There has been 36 goals scored in 10 games. That's almost 4 goals per match! Let's see how the matches turned out the way they did.

Blackburn - Wolves 3-1

Blackburn has been struggling and was for sure hoping for their first win in this years league. That they got with a 3-1 win over riserteam Wolverhampton. El-Hadji Diouf started with a goal in the 19th minute of the game. Diouf made a strong statement to be kept in the starting formation. Roberts and Dunne continued with goals number 2 and 3 in the second half, before Wolves got a little something when 88th minute brought a goal from Maierhofer.

Liverpool - Burnley 4-0

It was Yossi Benayoun's night, 3 goals and one assist gave the midfielder not only the first hattrick of the season but an amazing 24 points. Liverpool gave Burnley no chance what so ever and seems to be ready to take on the big opponents with a lot confidence.

Manchester City - Arsenal 4-2

Emmanuell Adebayor showed his last years team that City is going to be very tough team to beat by anyone in this years premier league, Adebayor himself continued with his steady one goal per match - routine. City got their first goal with a little help from Arsenal goalkeeper Almunia but after that proved that they are able to score also on their own. I'm still saying, City is going to win the championship!

Bolton took the first victory of the season with a 2-3 win over Portmouth. Bolton's hero was Gary Cahill who netted the game winning goal after 88th minute of the match.

Stoke was close to become the first team to steal points from Chelsea this year as it took Chelsea well over 90 minute playtime to score the game winning goal. Maloude was the one to score the 1-2 goal during stoppage time and continue Chelsea's winning streak.

Hopes for Everton's rise dimmed a little as Fulham took 2-1 win in their homefield. Everton led the game after first half with Cahill's goal but failed to keep the lead as Konchesky and Duff both scored to help Fulham take the game.

Fantasy Premier League Soccer - Gameweek 4 review

After the fourth gameweek there are still 3 teams that continue with a nice looking table, only wins. Chelsea, Tottenham and Man City are yet to experience the bitter taste of defeat as Bolton and Portsmouth still wait for their first taste of victory. Chelsea took the most convincing win of the week, as it beat Burnley 3-0. Burnley's great efforts came to an end as the Blues continued their winning streak with goals from Anelka, Cole and Ballack.

This gameweek offered 7 players that were able to collect over 10 points. 3 were defenders, 3 midfielders and one forward. But let's start with this weeks number one goalkeeper, or I should say goalkeepers, as both Green from West Ham and Sorensen from Stoke both collected 7 points. Sorensen is also the number one goalkeeper in the whole league with 26 points.

Defenders elite came from Chelsea, Everton and Wolves. Cole ended up with 14 points from clean sheet, one scored goal and 2 bonus points. Everton's Baines took home 12 points and Wolverhamptons Stearman 11. Both scored one goal and Baines even managed to assist one also.

Chelsea took the top spot also in midfielders as Ballack collected 11 points and Lampard 10. Lampard's 2 assists may be just what Frankie needs to rise to the level he was in last season. Tottenham's Lennon was the third 10-points man this gameweek. Lennon also climbed to the top of the midfielderss list looking the whole season with 27 points.

And last but not least. Only forward to go above the 10 point mark was Liverpool striker Torres. Goal and an assist together with 3 bonus points took Torres to 12 points. It seems 11.5M isn't all too much asked for him if he continues to play according to form he seems to be in.

Fantasy Premier League gameweek 3 review

Again 90 minutes of each game has been kicked and it's time to see who did well in Premier League Fantasy Football this week. Overall there were few big surprises and a few little ones. Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester City and Tottenham continue with their no points lost-campaign. Bolton, Blackburn, Portsmouth and Everton still stand at zero.

The goalkeeper who gathered most points this week was Hull City's Myhill with 10 points. Clean sheet, 8 saves and 2 bonus points was a very decent effort. From defenders Aston Villa's Davies took home 10 points. Faye Ab from Stoke and Bikey from Burnley settled with 9.

King of the midfielders came, once again, from Arsenal. But this time it was Diaby who scored two goals and ended up with 14 points. Aston Villa's Ashley Young scored one and gave one assist for the total of 12 points. 5 forwards came home with more than 10 points this gameweek, Rooney from ManU and Jones from Sunderland at the top spot with 13 points. Chelsea's Drogba continued great efforts with 12 points, Anelka from the same team got 11 as did ManU's Berbatov.

Again, the choise is hard for the Player of the Gameweek, with many great perfomances all around. But the winner is...Didier Drogba, Chelsea.

Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 2 review

The second gameweek even though just "half a" gameweek turned out be an interesting one. Gameweeks number one goalkeeper was Burnley's Brian Jensen, who wasn't intimidated by the star power in the opposing team ManU. Jensen even saved a penaltykick and 14 points is a great score for a goalkeeper.

Top defender came from Liverpool, Glen Johnson not only kept a clean sheet, he scored one goal and gained an assist. The perfomance also got him 3 bonus points, to the total of 18 points. Now he would of made a great captain.

Gameweeks best midfielders also came from Liverpool, both Dirk Kuyt and Steven Gerrard gathered 11 points. Gerrard with 2 assists, Kuyt with a goal and an assist. It seems Liverpool is on their way to fight for the championship.

If Liverpool was the home for top midfielders, top forwards came from Tottenham. This season's first hat trick saw the light of day when Jermain Defoe scored 3 goals against Hull. That plus 3 bonus points add up to 17 points. Robbie Keane of the same team wasn't a whole lot worse with a goal and 2 assists, when he also got 2 bonus points, his total climbed to 13 points.

Choosing the Player of the gameweek was a tough job but let's give props to the debut team goalkeeper Brian Jensen.

Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 1 review

First gameweek is now played. There were no really big surprises, except maybe that none of the games ended in a draw. Let's see who were the players that we all hope we'd had in our FPL-team.

Seven goalkeepers kept their goals untouched this weekend, but Stoke's Sorensen and ManCitys Given both got 2 bonus points and a point for saves made.

2. Matthew Upson, West Ham United 12pts
3. Sebastien Bassong, Tottenham 11pts

Stoke City's Shawcross debuted the season with an amazing 15pts, clean sheet, one goal and 3 bonus points. His about the become the most bought defender after this match.

Midfielders

1. Francesc Fabregas, Arsenal 22pts
2. Mark Noble, West Ham United 14pts
3. Jason Koumas, Wigan 10pts

This was Fabregas' week, 22pts with 2 goals and 2 assists, just unbelievable. After Didier Drogba scored 2 goals, I thougt this weeks king was crowned, well I was wrong.

Forwards
